Default Could you give me some guidelines about converting noun to a verb?

hello

Can you give me some guidelines as to how to convert:

a)noun to verb and vice versa
b) noun to adjective and vice versa

All I know about this stuff is that when making a noun from a verb, we lots of times add suffixes like –ness,-ment and –ity, but I’m sure there are other rules also. For example, I know that if we want to form a noun from HAPPY, we must convert and Y into I and then add -NESS. Does the rule of changing Y into I apply with all the verbs ending with Y or…?

Anyways, if you could tell me as much as possible about these kind of rules (like when we just add a suffix or prefix without changing anything…).

thank you
