    Default Meaning of this sentence

    Hi teachers
I am reading a book about English-Chinese translation. It has few exercises But unfortunately the book doesn't provide answers.....

so, Can you explain the following one?(Sorry, just a sentence, no more context.)

1.People want to buy more birds than I have.

Does it mean " Bird demand exceeds my supply"?

    Hi, redgiant.
    Yes, I agree with you.

Without your explanation( " Bird demand exceeds my supply"), I couldn't have made out what it means.

I'm not a native speaker of English.
Please wait for native speakers to respond.
