Re: Nick Cave - Dig Yourself
Hi, Waawe. 22 for 1! I wonder if that is because this is a difficult one? or because no one who understands the lyrics is game to print an answer?
Neil Young sings on 'Rust Never Sleeps': 'Welfare mothers make better lovers.' Nick Cave is, I think, alluding to the way that women's bodies changes after childbirth. It's an age-old paradox, Waawe: men marry women for their physical beauty. The women have a couple of kids -- which 'blasts' (various parts of) their bodies -- and then the marriage is about working hard to pay dentist's bill, not spontaneous sex with the woman that you fell in love/lust with. Look up the word 'episiotomy.'

Re: Nick Cave - Dig Yourself
Well, thank you, Mark. I was also waiting for the answer.
Re: Nick Cave - Dig Yourself
'Blasted' can also have the meaning of 'intoxicated', so it could imply that they were very taken up by motherhood in addition to Mark's suggestions above.

Thanks loads, Mark, you seem to be a man of experience, right? I will have to think twice before making my g-friend pregnant. :-D What a shame Nick didnt study medicine - Had he used 'episiotomy' for 'baby-blasted', everything d have been clear from the start. :-D Well, it wouldnt rhyme actually.
Cheers.

Some girls stay fit after the baby's birth. But anyway this music just messed up any idea of having kids that I possibly had. This music is so...cavernous. :-D
