hi guest, why this one: Because "bank" is the subject of the sentence. You do not need, actually, can't use, do

    No problem:

Who drove the car? (who: subject)

    Who did you see? (who:object)

Which car drove into the wall? (which car: subject)

Which car did you see that night? (which car: object)

How is it possible that "who" in the first example is a "subject" I would say that "car" is a subject.

Now let's look at this example:
    "What happened?
    What did happen?
Is the word what asking a question about the subject or object of the verb happen? Let's imagine some possible answers to the question – using the verb happen, of course. Which ones are grammatically correct?
    1. Something happened to me.
    2. Nothing happened to them.
    3. I happened something.
    4. They happened nothing.
The first two are correct, of course. This means that we are asking a question about the subject of the sentence, so to make the correct question, we use the verb in the correct tense without an auxiliary: What happened?"

Whenever you ask for the subject it has to be the thing or person doing the action:

    so:
    Who drove the car?
    I drove the car.

You can see clearly, that who is the subject, as I has substituted it in the answer.

The second is also correct, but in a specific context.

    e.g.
John: Which bank offered him the best rate?
Ann: Well, Raiffeisen didn't really offer him the best rate.
John: Okay, but which bank did offer him the best rate?
    Emphasis on did is important.
Disclaimer: The name of the bank is randomly picked and does not present my attitude toward the bank itself.

    thanks

I don't follow. The first sentence is correct, because 'bank' is the subject?
