fluent campaigns
Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me the meaning of the expression in bold of the sentence bellow?
“It emphasizes the huge element of mystery and uncertainty in voters' behavior, which makes them spurn the most fluent campaigns and ignore the gaffes and trifles which dominate television news bulletins and front pages.”
This is mere guesswork:
most fluent = smoothest = lacking obstructions or difficulties
Would you explain to me the proper connotation of “the most fluent campaigns”?
Thank you for your efforts.
Regards
V.
