Think twice before launching a stupid attack on others. | And now hush down, as you blew past the meaning of my post!
And for further situations, I warn you to mind your language and keep your hasty opinion to yourself, and certainly to refrain from insulting - not just me, but anyone else.
I honestly have not the foggiest of where you've gotten the impression that I had anything against China, Chinese people, or their government. To be clear: my digression was referring to sports (Olympic Games, precisely).
My comment was addressed to Soup, and it was everything but an attack - either on him or on anyone else. It was, in that point of view, an innocuous joke, giving that Soup's country is Canada.
I also want you to note that it would be, at least polite, if not sane to ask someone whether you got them wright or wrong, and then start pinning the arguments.
Bewildered,
Ivan. |

Bewildered,
Ivan. | But now this post is intended for me. Soup's including "Go CHINA Go" plus the sign below his mild criticism of my view in that post was an act of great bravery, which I appreciated very much. Soup is a teacher of English teacher who has worked in China for some time. You may insist that you were referring to Olympics while asking "Are you accomodated?", assuming that Soup is going to be a spectator. But would you please clarify the meaning of "They must treat you very well"? I might have misunderstood you. If so, sorry for that. But please enlighten me about the meaning of that part. |

<only 4 more days> | Cheering for China denotes some special closeness with the country, especially if it's related to the Olympics, and my noted digression had in nothing to do with Soup's intention, though I'd approve it in any case. Are you accommodated is followed by a slightly slangish intonation (say: Boy, are you well accommodated?!) that shouts, let's say, ''Atta girl!''. And why that? Because she's in a country that's not h er home, even though she might be calling it home, and rightfully: They treat her well - Chinese are incredibly good to h er, and it feels like home, so it probably feels right to call China home, hence cheer for China in Olympics.
So, definitely - my 'joke' was an utter opposite.
What a fuss about badly interpreted joke.
Supporting Soup - Assumptions tend to do that.
I hope you got me right now.
Sincerely,
Ivan.
