However you do the job is not important to him.

How you do the job is not important to him.

    Are both correct?

Hi, Anglika. Do you think the sentence below is correct as is, without "it" before is? Thank you.

However you do the job is not important to him.

It is of no importance to him what way you do the job. You can do it any way you like.

Hi, Anglica. But in the link you gave it is different. In the examples below which are in the link you gave "however" links two independent sentences. But the sentence I gave is different. There is only one sentence and the part after "however" till the predicate is the subject of the whole sentence. Can you give me an example from a respectable source that shows "however" is used like "how" in such sentences: How you do the job is not important to him.

However you look at it, it's still a mess.
You can do it however you like, it really doesn't matter.

I beg to differ. It seems to me clear that the Cambridge Dictionary does use "however" is the way I indicated.

To give you another link, AskOxford: however it is the second meaning that is relevant.

Hi, Anglica. As you are a native speaker, I see what you mean when you say "I beg to differ." But the Cambridge example below is different from the sentence I gave:

    1. However you look at it, it's still a mess. (Cambridge)
    2. However you do the job is not important to him. (the sentence I gave)

You see the difference? I will change the Cambridge's example the way below:

However you look at it is still a mess.

Is this correct? If wrong, why is 2 correct?

I'll give you another link. There is even an example sentence for the sense you mentioned (in whatever way):

    http://www.oup.com/elt/catalogue/tea...ld7/?cc=global

2 in whatever way: However you look at it, it’s going to cost a lot.
