It all started when the Governor of the state allocated the land to Amarnath Pilgrims and then back pedaled from the decision. First it was the separatist who took to the street against the decision and now opposition is demanding the revoke of the cancellation of the allotment of land.

Simmering is the common word I am coming across all newspaper so i used that here
Is backpedaling is correct to use in the above article?
allotment of land is correct rather then allocation, thanks for correcting me.
