Smile Screw Springfield!

Quote:
Marge: If you're going to pick a government to trust, why not this one?
Did you see that?
Yes, they're going to destroy Springfield.
But we're going to stop them.
Homie, get your clothes on. Homie?
Homer: I'm happy here. Screw Springfield!
Marge: I can't believe you'd say something so selfish.
Q: Screw Springfield! =? screw=?

Thanks!

PS: Springfield is a place name in the cartoon of The Simpsons.

'Screw Springfield' basically means 'I don't care about Springfield'.

"Screw" in this sentence is a mild substitute of "F*ck".

daffodils
There's also 'screw-up' & 'screw around'.
These slangs are for your amusement only but are not meant to be used in your writing.

I keep meeting this mistake here. Please make an old man very happy, and repeat after me 'SLANG IS NOT COUNTABLE'. They are slang expressions.

Hi BobK,

Thanks for pointing that out.

A question comes to my mind. Is 'screw' a four-letter word in such a case? If yes, why did the screenwriter use such a word in a highly popular cartoon, which owns a large number of children viewers? And if I say it, am I very rude?

Thanks in advance!

Screw is mildly vulgar. Any parent who lets their children watch the Simpsons will not be upset by its use.

F**k would be another matter entirely.
