Regime - alternative meaning

Hello Everybody,

My English papers involve a wide variety of topics, hence the need to use broad vocabulary. This morning I stopped typing to give a thought to the following problem:

'regime' = a system of political dictatorship; tyranny; totalitarian rule (quite obvious),

'regime' = a set of technological parameters to be strictly observed in order to maintain quality, safety, consistency, etc. (my guess).

Am I right thinking that the noun 'regime' can be used in the second sense, too?

As usual, I'll be grateful for any suggestions.
