Hi,
I have some questions about "report".
1. It is reported that a ship is missing.
Which in the following is equivalent?
(a) A ship is reported missing.
(b) A ship is reported to be missing.
(c) A ship is reported to miss.
(d) A ship is reported to be lost.
What's the difference between to+ VR and Ving in the sentence pattern be reported?
2. Several people reported having seen the girl.
Several people were reported to see the girl.
Does the first sentence mean that several people reported that they had see the girl and the second sentence mean that it was reported that several people saw the girl?
3. It is suspected that aliens abducted the humans in the lost ships.
Can it be changed to " Aliens are suspected to have abducted the humans in the lost ships?"
