The first one sounds better. Remove the comma. :)
The usage of relative clause is not applicable in the sentence structure above.

In my tongue both sentences would sound better with a comma. And, as far I have seen on the newspapers in English that I read everyday, the comma would be OK in these sentences. Just a student with a stupid opinion.
My main interest here is about the type of construction used in sentence #1, that is, using the verb+ing after the comma. According to your answers, I assume it's good English, right?

No, it's incorrect. If it used "which" and kept the comma, it would be OK.
