Are these correct? What do these mean?

1. ADSL technology provides high-speed transmission at speeds of 50 to 100 times faster than a standard phone modem.
2. ADSL technology provides high-speed transmission at speed 50 to 100 times faster than a standard phone modem.

3. ADSL technology provides high-speed transmission at a speed 50 times faster then a standard phone modem.
4. ADSL technology provides high-speed transmission at a speed of 50 times faster then a modem.

Are these correct?
5. Voice Over IP is revolutionizing connectivity by allowing PC users to conduct voice transfers.

6. Voice Over IP is the revolutionizing connectivity by allowing PC users to conduct voice transfers.
7. Voice Over IP is revolutionizing the connectivity by allowing PC users to conduct voice transfers.

What does #6 and #7 mean?

1&3 are correct. Some would use 4, but 2 is wrong to me.

1. is OK;
Delete 'the' in 2.;
3. is OK;
Add 'the' to 25th.

7. is OK.

The difference between 6 and 7 has to do with specificity. 'the' expresses a specific or known 'connectivity'.

Why is this not right with 'of'? It sounds wrong to me without it though?

2. On 25th, we need to sell a lot of stuff. (Why does this sound right without 'the'?)

I don't know why 2. sounds OK to you; it certainly doesn't sound OK to me. :wink:
