I find a sentence in an article, it says:Roses with names like “Red meidiland”……I cannot find the word "meidiland" in the dictionary, and what does "Red meidiland" mean for the name of a rose?
The rose seems to be named after its creator. A cultivator of roses would consider it the ultimate honor to have a rose named after him. Apparently, Meidiland has achieved that. The rose (not surprisingly) is red. It is a beautiful rose, and I would be proud to have it in my rose garden if I still had one. :(
Below find a couple of links to websites that discuss the Red Meidiland. (The hybridizer's name is Meilland, which is similar but not the same as the name of the rose.)

Take the time to visit the websites (especially the first one). The roses are quite pretty.
:D
They're also named after people- I seem to remember one being named after princess Di. ;-)
Thank you. The first website recommended by Ronbee is quite good. I find many kinds of roses I just read in the article, for example, Chrysler Imperial, Honorable Lady Lindsay , Pikes Peak.
Chrysler Imperial? Weird name. ;-)
Cool names! (Easy to remember; hard to forget.)Quote:

To me, they are not only difficult to understand, but to translate! So, I have decided to pass over these names and not to translate them !
I can help you with some of the names. Chrysler Imperial is a car, Honorable Lady Lindsay is almost certainly a person. Pikes Peak is a mountain in Colorado. I didn't find the Golden Chersonese, but "golden" in the name indicates its color. I didn't find the Alba Celeste, but I did find the Celeste. (It has several other names.) I think that is somebody's name. (Celeste is a female name.) I did find the Trumpeter. It's a beautiful rose.Quote:
