When you want to describe that someone is off today.....

do you say she is on holiday today or use the word "Leave"

Where is it appropriate to use "leave" and where shoudl we use "Holiday" ?

Words holiday or vacation have related meanings in different countries, but will usually refer to one of the following activities or events:

A holiday or vacation trip/break will often be undertaken during specific holiday observances, or be made for specific festivals or celebrations. Vacation or holidays are often used as a time to spend with friends or family.

So is she is enjoying any of the facilities the appropriate word is 'holiday' otherwise it is always common to say: Today she is on a holiday, she has availed leave.
