Hi! Please help me..
Timothy rides a bus to school. He started to do it when his car broke down.
The correct answer is :
Timothy has ridden the bus to school since his car broke down.

I don't understand why use Present Perfect ? I would prefere Pr. Perf. Cont. form. But will the meaning change ?

Both have the same meaning.

They are both correct, the Present Perfect Continuous being preferable in spoken English. I'd plump for the present perfect simple form if the sentence read 'I have ridden the bus ten times since my car broke down'.
It's just an example...
