Default traffic light

Do I say



There are a traffic lights at the corner, please stop at the traffic lights on the corner
There are a traffic light at the corner, Please stop at the traffic light on the corner

traffic lights always plural and should stop light be the same-->always stoplights

I wonder why to stop ''on'' the corner instead of ''at'', once ''there's a traffic light at the corner".

It's "stop at the lights", not "stop on (top of) the lights." By the way, both at the corner and on the corner as in The traffic lights are at/on the corner are used.
