Thumbs up if i were to...........

can someone help me with this:

can i use "were to" in past sense?
if so, will it be right to say: if he were to give me my money back, he would have given last month?

Default Re: if i were to...........

It is possible to use were to (or more specifically were + full infinitive) in type 2 conditionals.

If + were +infinitive +would +bare infinitive.

If he were to give me my money back, I would come with you.

A type 3 conditional is the more suitable choice for your proposed sentence, however you need to specify exactly when you should have received your money.

If + past perfect + would + have + past participle

If he had paid me on the agreed date, I would have had the money last month.

I am not a teacher.

I think the meaning you're after is

"If he had been going to/If he had meant to give me my money back, he would have given me it last month."

I am a teacher, but I couldn't swear that this was "type 3"!
