I'd use 'adopts' and prefer the second.

**I am not an English teacher, just an American college student who's lived in the United States and spoken and studied English for her entire life.**
Both are fine, so long as you capitalize the first letter, have it be "adopts" instead of "adopt" and spell "piousness" correctly (as I have written it here).

Why do you all want to change adopt?
The subjunctive is more appropriate here.
