Smile Taste (Police)=?

This has probably come as a surprise to Mr Wingfield, who may not have tangled with the Taste Police before. After all, Lord Talbot didn't need planning permission to put the place up and his grandfather didn't need consent to add its wings. The planners would probably have turned down the idea of building the house in the first place and they would without doubt have vetoed the creation of the wings. Just as they are now vetoing their destruction.
Hello! What does 'taste' mean here?

Thanks in advance!

Default Re: Taste (Police)=?

"Taste" is your personal preference for art, style. music etc.

What you like is different to other people, what you like is your "taste".

Taste Police is a colloquial expression for people that openly criticise other people's taste.

No, not for general use. Taste Police is the name of the special task force in this case.
