Smile comic books question #16

In the sentence below, what does "cannon-slinging" mean?

There' a madman on the loose, Superman. A cannon-slinging lunatic who calls himself Bloodsports.

Default Re: comic books question #16

"Bloodsport"

He goes around carrying a cannon rather as cowboys went around wearing revolvers in a holster slung from a belt. They were "gun-slinging", so he is "cannon-slinging".
