Question Meaning of "I could probably dig out the original box...."

Could you please instruct me the meaning of
"I could probably even dig out the original box and receipt,"
in the following novel.
The question part is on the 3rd paragraph of the following website.

If I look hard, and in all the places I put things down, I will probably be able to find the box the item came in and the receipt I received when I bought it.

"to dig something out" indicates the speaker is going to have to uncover it from wherever it was put, after which other things were put on top.

To Anglica

Thank your your quick reply.
Is "dig out the original box and receipt" a kind of metaphor or figurative expression to express Marie's obsession for her assumption that osteoarthrisis can not happen to her?
