Default start going town with

Hello teachers,

What does "start going town with ..." mean?

Quote:
Weir also has a gap in an otherwise impressive technical arsenal: he has never landed a clean quad in competition. At worlds this year, he tried the jump, but it was downgraded by the technical panel.
"For sure, I'm working on the quad later this summer," Weir said. "When we're done with my programs, I'll switch over to new boots and really start going to town with them. Of course, it should be in my long program for the whole season, because last year I ended with it."

Thanks in advance,

"Start going to town" = really using the new boots to show how much better he is wearing them.

Thank you Anglika!

So, does it probably mean he'll train hard to nail difficult jumps in his new skating boots? I guess landing tough jumps, such as quads, shows how better he is with the boots, but I'm not sure...

Yes. He believes the new boots will really contribute to doing quads better.
