The grammar rule is in the case of "to sue" the "e" being silent, we then consider it like a verb such as "to believe" whereby the "e" is silent (mute) we delete the "e" and add "ing" for the present participle getting "believing".
It is the same rule with "sue" where 'e' is soft (mute) then su + ing = suing.
