I'd go with #3, but without the the first "a," but with an "a" before caption:
"I need DVD software with a caption recording feature."
The singular is used here because it's specifying what kind of recording feature you want. It is similar to saying
"My cake-making skills are very good"
"The police officer was a good thief catcher"
