Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me your opinion concerning my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following brief excerpt from a random post?
“The other place is asking for £35 per head, but for a severely restricted menu. It seems to me that we could almost eat there à la carte for less.
Discussions are continuing, but I don't appreciate being taken for a mug - and that is exactly what I think is happening.
The next London Lunch should be less than 3 weeks away, but the way this is going, it may have to be delayed.”
a la carte = with a separate price for each item on the menu
mug (n) = a person who is gullible and easy to take advantage of, fool, gull, sucker
the way this is going = as things are going
