I wonder if it is "lit" or "was lit" in the sentence.
"A light lit/was lit at the end of the road"

The light was lit is the passive voice, indicating that the light was lit by someone.

The light lit (up) doesn't specify that it was lit by a person, or what caused it to light up (it could have, for instance, come on automatically - or the reason for it lighting up could be unknown).
