    Default animal is dog

    Which one is correct?
    My favorite animal is dog
    My favorite animal is the dog
    My favorite animal is a dog( does this mean only one dog and not that group of animal)


    if i reverse the subject and the agent
    does animal need to be pluralized?

    the dog is my favorite animal
    the dog is my favorite animals
    dogs are my favorite animal
    dogs are my favorite animals
