I don't get this example:
If you wanted the sample to be a tenth of the population, you would select every tenth member of the population, starting with one chosen randomly form among the first ten in sequence. (tenth of the population??? I don't get that)

2.For Stratified Smpale:
A stratified sample has the same proportion of members from each stratum as the population does? (can someone reword this sentence for me please??)

one-tenth of the population >> ten per cent of the population >> one in ten of the population

To get a 10% sample, you select one out of each ten people.

Within society, each stratum of that society contains a percentage of the total population [ie Top stratum = 10%; middle stratum= 65%; lowest stratum= 25%]. To obtain a stratified sample, the percentage of people selected from each sample must equal the percentage of that stratum.

Hi hugsandkisses,
I'm interested in how students cope learning hard subjects in their second languages. In Australia, we get a lot of Asians who come to our universities, and are really not prepared enough in English.
But you are in Montreal. Do you mind telling me why you have chosen to go to an English School? Is it because learning English is more important than learning the actual subjects?
