Smile a music question #4

Down under by Men at Work

Travelling in a fried-out Kombi
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
And she said,

What do the words in bold mean?

Default Re: a music question #4

Hi dilermando

Travelling in a fried-out Kombi
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie

As a Brit, but not a teacher, I would understand "fried-out" to be equivalent to "burnt-out", as in a burnt-out engine - one liable to "die" at any moment.

A Zombie is a soul-less body - see Answers.com:
zombie: Definition from Answers.com
I would read: "head full of Zombie" as meaning being in a mindless state (probably drug-induced, as in the "flower-power/hippie" days of the 1960's).

Hope this helps
Regards
NT
