,It is most likely that it may be true also: “I can smell a burn in the kitchen.” or “There is a smell of burning in the kitchen.”
or “It smells like something is burning in the kitchen.”

What is wrong with "Something smells of burning?" I agree that "Something smells like it's burning" is super correct, but in my opinion would be rarely said.![]()
