Re: Imagine 'I can imagine you saying that' - Incomplete. What comes next? This is not a complete sentence so it cannot be correct until it is finished. There is no context to suggest that it fokllows on from anything.
'I imagine you to be older than me'- This makes sense to me only if you put it into the past tense: 'I imagined you to be older than me'. This now says that you had an impression and know it to be wrong. If you want to talk about the present then you would probably use a different verb- I think/reckon/guess/believe |
