Default expressions

I am confused about few expressions and I hope that you could help:

do we say:

1- "is your parent fine" or "are your parents fine"
2- " a firm gets bankrupt" or "a firm bankrupts" or "a firm goes bankrupt"
or any other expression

1 = "Are your parents fine?"

2 = "a firm goes bankrupt"
