I came across this sentence:

Does this mean:
--- was a part of life in UK, more than anywhere else.

--- is the name of a brand.

Because of the second verb being in theplural, I assume that it means that the success of the brand in the UK has never been surpassed anywhere. What's the brand?

The actual sentence is:
"***'s posters made --- part of the warp and woof of English life, and have never been excelled - anywhere."

(modifying the sentence might have caused confusion. )

Advertising posters (produced by the artist, ***) for --- (the brand) in the first half of the 20th century was very popular amoung people in the UK, and is an icon for that brand.

The brand is similar to the presence of Perrier (water brand) to France, as to people in UK.
