Default quiz question

Which word when tagged onto the first word will form another word, and when placed in front of the second word will form another word?

I’m sure there are many answers; one of them is “out”/“break”.

Default Thank you for responses

I think the question is very ambiguous. I think the answer I need is some grammatical word that means what the question asks. Confused? So am I!

I must admit that I do not completely understand the "first" and "second" in the question.

I think Gwen's example works, because you can have both a 'breakout' and an 'outbreak', but I'm not too sure what the question really means.
