I am learning the phrase" catch someone off guard".
"Her boyfriend often does something special to catch her off guard."
Hopefully, I can get the answer.

It is ok, though "catching someone off guard" usually has a more negative implication that the person should have been but failed to be aware of something as a matter of duty.
