platinum phrase = useful word?
Some will say that Mr Cameron's emergency appearance in Birmingham on Tuesday was self-serving and unimportant. I disagree.
This came close to the moment Tony Blair had after James Bulger's terrible murder in 1993 when the then Shadow Home Secretary - talking of 'a hammer blow against the sleeping conscience of the country' - caught the mood of a country adrift in despair.
Mr Cameron did not produce any single,
platinum phrase. He did not need to.
Hi!
platinum phrase = useful word?
He doesn't speak any useful word?
Thanks!

Platinum is the most valuable precious metal.
In this context, it is suggesting that he did not produce a brilliant and memorable sentence, but by implication his sentence was perfect in its expression of the mood in the country at that moment.
