Zero Article
http://www.usingenglish.com/glossary/zero-article.html

We use the zero article with nouns that are uncountable, especially when speaking in general terms.

Examples:
I drink coffee.
People drink water to keep from getting thirsty.
Winter is cold and snowy.
Time waits for no man.
Rain is wet.
