'Greats' is what they call Classics at Oxford. 'A double first' is a very high-scoring degree.

Re: double first degree
PS - not just 'very high-scoring', but consistently high-scoring; the 'Greats' course is divided between a five-term part and a seven-term part. Whereas in most degrees, the best students are given a 'first' (that is, a first-class degree), to get a double first you have to be awarded a first after five terms and at the end of the course.
