Default word formation

Dear teachers,

I get confused by the following three words:

I know there is a verb "intend". And then there is a noun " intent“ and another noun " intention". My question is:

1. Which noun is the noun form of "intend", the former one or the latter one?

2. If the latter one is the noun form of "intend" then what is the verb form for the noun "intent"?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you in advance.

Jiang

You can have more than one noun from a single verb:

produce- product/producer/production, etc.

Dear tdol,

Thank you very much for your explanation. So both "intention" and "intent" are the noun form of "intend". Is that right?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you in advance.
