Would you be kind enough to explain to me in plain English the essence of the expression in bold in the following sentences?

“Given the results of an examination that spotted no trace of physical trauma on her body, we came to the conclusion that it is a suicide.”

Given the results from the Voyager 2 images, Enceladus was considered a ….

My guesswork concerning the meaning of the expression in question is “on the grounds of”.
