The definite Article - use and omission with certain buildings

this is a great forum by the way!

I'd appreciate some tips on the use/omission of the definite article when talking about certain buildings and bridges for students whose native language does not have "the article"...

For example, why is it:
Tower Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge
but: The Golden Gate bridge

The Empire State Building, The Colosseum, The Embankment
but: Tower of London (?) or Waterloo Station, Charing Cross

The Omission of the definite article will end the superiority of those things with time and the use will allot them a new angle.
So, hard task to complete
