Default get into one's blood

I am reading a book which says that "Get into one's blood" means "addicted to", for instance :

Coffee is one of those things that get into our blood.

I tried to prove it by/with googling but in vain. Do you agree that "get into one 's blood" have such a figurative meaning?

"In my blood" is used to give a reason for an action, based on your background, culture or heritage.

My parents are Scottish, so saving money is in my blood.

My family is Italian, so pizza is in my blood.

It's in my blood to be a good swimmer because I was raised in California.

As a phrase, it can mean that something has aroused your enthusiasm> The sun was warm and the feeling of spring around the corner got into my blood, so I skipped down the road like a lamb.

I think the usage you cite is quite literal - that the substances in coffee [and other things, such as tobacco] get into the blood stream and can lead to an addiction.
