Default raise the bar?

Doew "raise the bar" mean "set a higher standard" / "be even more demanding" in :

The bosses establish goals, set standards, raise the bar, evaluate, reward, and so on...

That's right To raise the bar is to set higher standards, demand more. The phrase comes from high jumping where raising the bar makes the jumping more challenging and more difficult. :D
