Adverb modifying a verb!

I have the following sentence that I need to find out where to place the adverb "certainly" in the sentence:

"The work we do will certainly be of assistance in the subsequent fair hearings."

Do you put the adverb "certainly" after the verb "will" or do you put the adverb "certainly" after the verb "be" in the above sentence?

When we say that "adverbs modify verbs" we mean that they add information to the main verb.

Will is an auxiliary verb used to create the future tense of the verb to be. Be is the main verb so certainly goes in front of be.

Basically, what you wrote is correct. :-)
