"Drop that ghetto blaster"
Dear All
Could you please tell me what "drop that ghetto blaster" means or may mean. This is part of the lyrics to a 90s house track by Cartouche, "Feel The Groove." I found by Google that a ghettoblaster is a portable stereo system, but I can't make out the meaning of the whole sentence. I am a non-native speaker of English, so please help me.
Thanks a ton!

Re: "Drop that ghetto blaster"
Hi brother louie,
I remember that lyric! I'm sure I heard it in 'Theme from S-Express' by S-Express, which was out in England in around 1989. To me it means 'play some music'.
My thinking behind this is that I have often heard DJs talk of 'dropping tunes', which basically means playing songs or music: "I dropped that tune and the place went wild!" would mean "I played that record and everybody loved it!".
Hope that helps.
Best wishes,
Paul

Re: "Drop that ghetto blaster"
I could be wrong, but I think that they're literally saying "put down that ghetto blaster," as in get rid of it, turn it off. Everyone is headed to this rave or huge party that will be blasting house music throughout the facility via huge amplifiers. Don't stay at home listening to your boom box (another term for "ghetto blaster"), come join us at the Bat Cave!
Drop that ghetto blaster
House music all night long
House music all night long
House music all night long
To the Bat Cave, let's go
