    I find the following sentence by googling the keyword "free of"

    Keeping your PC free of virus and other invaders is an essential step to ... all computer users who want full protection from viruses, unauthorized file deletion, malware,emerging threats, and other hostile ...

    When should I use free of or free from?

    I would use both variants. And also virus-free
