Default What does "D.J." and "K.K." mean?

What does "D.J." and "K.K." mean?
For example:
AHD = American Heritage Dictionary

Context from AHD:

AHD:[d¼n” k¶-h½“t¶, kw¹k“s…t]
D.J.:[7d%n ki86houti8, 6kwiks*t]

Hi, NewHope
I don't know if this is what you asked. I remember I once saw the full name of K.K. on the first page of a pronunciation book at one school. It stands for two persons' names who invented the K.K. pronunciation system. I don't think I can remember their names and I probably wouldn't in the future. Let me get this information to you tomorrow because I have a night class at that school. Okay?

Best Regards,
Blackonmi

Let's try disc jocke for DJ.

The only thing that comes to my feable mind for K.K. is Kaiserliche-Koenigliche Donaumonarchie. Die old Austrian monarchy aka KK. Unless you want to venture south and try Klu-Klux-Klan but that is KKK.

Hi, NewHope,

It's said K.K is close to American English, so that's the main reason we used this ohonetic symbols to teach pronunciation in the past. Now, we focus more on phonics. To be frank, pronunciation teaching system are in a mess in Taiwan. Elementary school kids learn happy phonics but when they go to middle school, they have K.K. tests. I was taught in K.K. as well. Did you learn K.K. before?

Twostep, how do you learn the pronunciation?

Cass, which one do you use to teach pronunciation, K.K. or Phonics?

In a marathon, a Japanese referee shouted. "Lady?! GO!" (Ready?! GO) So my conclusion is that if twostep wants to win the prize, try Japan, because you can go first!

Best Regards,
Blacknomi
