I've read in a grammar book that the phrase "you're fired!" is used more often in comic-strips than in real life. The book doesn't offer a more detailed explanation. It simply says that the passive form of performative verbs is rarely used and gives only one example, as cited above. could you help me, please? I don't understand why "you're fired" is less frequently used in real life, and why is it more often used in comic-strips. thank you.
