Default is this sentence fine, please?

I struggled to remember it but I wasn't able at all.

    Hi,
Is the sentence above grammatically correct? How would a native say it, please?
    Thanks.

    Thanks Susie!
I used "at all" because I wanted to convey some emphasis. Should I have said "I struggled a lot to remember it but I really wasn't able to."?
    Thanks.

I really struggled, but I just wasn't able to remember a thing.
